Built in 1860 for the captain of the tin mine, Atlantic View occupies a commanding position on the hillside with fine, far reaching sea views. Overlooking the hamlet of Carnyorth on the West Penwith Peninsula (also known as the Land’s End Peninsula), at the south west extremity of Cornwall which is surrounded on three sides by the pounding waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The house is spacious and easily accommodates 8 guests. It boasts glorious ocean views from many rooms. On a clear day you can see the Scilly Isles. There are 2 cosy sitting rooms with sea views, and also a large conservatory/dining area which opens out into a fully enclosed garden with patio. The bedrooms are comfortable and airy. Many of the original Victorian features have been preserved including mosaic tiled floors, ceiling plaster work and sash windows.
For those who enjoy walking there is plenty of choice. You can head up the moor with its stone circles and standing stones directly behind the house, or you can set off down to the cliff tops with the beautiful coastal path approximately a mile away. The area is part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage site, and also part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Much of the recent popular Poldark TV series was filmed in the area. There are numerous spectacular white sandy beaches within easy reach, including Sennen Cove which is renowned for its surfing, and many hidden beautiful coves.
Visit St Ives and sample the many fantastic restaurants and browse in the numerous galleries. Eat at a local gourmet pub and walk the coastal path. Visit the Minack Theatre perching on the cliffs over Porthcurno for an open-air performance whilst the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean. Visit Geevor mine and learn about the area’s mining heritage. Whether you are looking for an active or relaxing holiday with friends or with family, Atlantic View is the perfect home from home to meet everyone‘s needs.
